Worst song the f***
Hate the 808s on it
Eminem came onto the scene a protégé under the infamous legend Dr. Dre. He had a decent big name debut (sorry Infinite fans) and then catapulted to stardom with his sophomore album which many fans of the genre consider to be a classic album.
Then he drops a third follow up which, once again, breaks tons of records and is regarded as an excellent record in the world of hip-hop.
Then begins the turn from widely regarded superstar, potential top 5 MC of all time, into sort of a weird amalgamation and debauchery of all that made him appreciable for his fans to begin with. Eminem started experimenting with different styles, trying a Jamaican reggae style patois flow on Recovery and moving into pure pop stardom from then on out with album after album headlined with ANOTHER Rihanna induced radio friendly hit. At this point you could say that most of the music Eminem was dropping could fall into the "safe" category. It wasn't ground breaking or interesting like his earlier work, but it was guaranteed to be a smash hit due to the style of music being dropped.
Now you have Drizzy Drake. Drizzy Drake blew up on the scene after getting put on by his protégé, then greatest rapper alive, Lil Wayne. He was featured on a variety of cuts and like Eminem dropped a lesser known but still appreciated mixtape series (Infinite being like So Far Gone) and then dropped a decent debut followed by one that all fans consider to be his true classic. After climbing to the top Drake sort of cemented himself as a top 5 rapper and continued to collaborate on excellence before dropping another classic album to follow up his Sophomore.
Now here is where things get a little awry. Drizzy Drake drops what many consider to be his best work, a throwaway mixtape released "Beyoncé" style. Not quite the same move as Eminem but still showing much greatness. Now here is where the Drake and Eminem Show meet and merge as one. As soon as Drake release What a Time to Be Alive with Future he began his movement into Eminem category.
You see the key reason why Drizzy Drake and Eminem are the same person today is because they both opted to make safe music for the rest of their career. Drizzy Drake also showed a preference for Jamaican influenced patois in his music and moved down the path of reggaetĂłn and dance hall, once again pulling from other parts of the world. Finally, today, we've entered the modern Drake era which is similar to Eminem during his Recovery and MMLP2 days. The days of when Drake is content dropping "safe" singles following a generic formula for another overbloated album released to mediocre fanfare.

Both rappers are in the zone making music that they KNOW will make them money and gather them fame while then proceeding to mail it in on their albums
The parallel's are there, it's up to you to unravel the puzzle that Marshall and Aubrey have weaved for the greater world to understand
yea because "you da you da best" was risk taking and "gods plan" is safe, great essay OP.
Why are threads so s*** these days ...
this isn't s***. it's accurate. Drake is eminem
yea because "you da you da best" was risk taking and "gods plan" is safe, great essay OP.
yeah because you're gonna isolate a single instance and pretend that Drake's freestyle over Say You Will isn't one of the most important things for modern rap from the same project
Hate the 808s on it
Hmmm ight, had that at first too. Feels a little out of place. But the sample is just too damn good and he flows really well on it. Really fw it
It still baffles me how people think Scorpion is safe. I can see how one wouldn’t like them, but songs like I’m Upset, Can’t take a Joke, Peak, Summer Games, Ratchet happy Birthday, Thats how You Feel and Final Fantasy are faaaar from safe.
I'm Upset is one of his safest in the catalog
if i only revisit 5 tracks out of 25 then the album failed at it's purpose
unless it was made for that reason, which is fine but if that's the case then we shouldn't have to pretend it's great music
I'm Upset is one of his safest in the catalog
Wouldnt be his most hated sing if it was safe

Well that depends on the person. I like it all the way thru. I could do without ratchet happy birthday, summer games and talk up though
Imagine rating music as safe or risky
This how I know yall are lames
Either its good or bad all that “risk” and “safe” s*** is for lames

fair
Wouldnt be his most hated sing if it was safe
Was a hit tho, just a super generic drippy song
lmao i'm definitely not reading that whole essay but damn you losers really make one of these threads every 3-5 business days ... sounds like you're just trying to convince yourselves of the BS narratives you cook up over there at music sxn
I'm Upset is one of his safest in the catalog
Its not, I think it’s one of his worst songs tbh, but I couldn’t name a song that sounds the same.

Pulling from other parts of the world is considered safe? Did you or did you not see how much hate he got for doing this?

Exactly

Sounds the same of his or in general?
Both I guess
It sound's like the average Zaytoven type beats everyone started copying around 2015. Drake's first time, but sound was def played out by the time he did it

Idk doesn’t sound anything to zaytoven to me, but I could be wrong. Got any specific songs or not? Not hatin be genuinly curious cus I think the song is very unique and not safe at all.
