the song
Damn near every forum was mainly talking about drake's verse. A quick youtube search and you can find rap podcasts or gatekeeprs discussing drake's verse
Obviously you div. Rap critics talking about the rap verse on a Rap song over the R&B chorus? Who would have thought? That’s biased and not concrete at all
But you kinda agree that the album as a whole was big, it did pretty well. Singles is another talking point ig
because of sicko mode. Not because the other songs really got traction. S*** had like 20 songs and only 1 was a colossal hit for one of the biggest rappers out. As a whole it wasn't big.
Damn was a big album as a whole. Spawned multiple hits all colossal and like every song went gold. Scorpion had multiple colossal hits.

there's tons of rap songs with r&b hooks that have people discussing the hook

And AMM isn’t one of them is what you’re saying?
Why don’t you try and find conversations about the hook instead of following your bias? If absolutely none exist, then you got me.

No, I'm saying the most memorable part of the song is Drake. So memorable it became it's own song entirely and is one of the greatest verses of the 2010s.
I literally googled aston martin music, inserted rap forums, publications, and then youtubed aston martin music and found videos. I didnt even put drakes name because it's unnecessary. It's already understood his part was the most memorable.

The song is a classic. Which is most memorable is a matter of opinion. The reason we’re not talking about Chrisette on the hook is because Chrisette is irrelevant now, especially in comparison to Drake. At most we’d give her a nod for nostalgia.
Make this a thread and I guarantee you will find people remember the hook as much-or-more than the verses. It‘s a short, vocal timemachine.
It’s a breath of fresh air from Drake’s off-key singing.
Post 2015 yeah
I mean some of these feats now got a drake hook and a verse and are called feats
Look alive, no guidance, going bad are 80% drake
In my opinion it is because drake doesnt absolutly kill verses anymore like he did 2011-15
Like stay shemin, tuesday, etc. etc. Drake went in
Now just a verse mostly flopd like lemon remix, no frauds, swae song, yachty song etc.
Drake isn't good but he obviously has a following. I dont understand it myself but I guess been a star of David gives you a extra push in the industry. He doesn't have any mic talent and his voice is very one tone doesn't help he has fake charisma too . But I guess there are worse ( which is a telling sign of our times) rappers. Post malone is absolutely horrible and the rainbow snitch too.

i don’t think a lot of these artists who had massive success because of a drake feature are concerned with stans on internet forums giving him all the credit for their career.
Who made a career of a drake feat?
There have been a few songs where Drake featured on it and didn't completely absorb the energy of the song.
"Aston Martin Music"
"Love Me"
"Poetic Justice"
"Where Ya At"
I think it has more to do with a lot of artists reaching out for a Drake collab for the sake of boosting their profile rather than authentic chemistry.
This is it. It can work when the artist have a vision but most instead are using their connections to make a hot song with drake and blow up all it does is make drake hotter and give the artist 10 mins of fame
Great response ... think of that one ya self? To be 13 again...
Yes of course I did
Rappers think just throwing Drake on a song is what makes it big when in reality Drake is just extremely good at picking out potential hits. Tony Montana and Versace would not have been as good with Drake already on them. The songs were their own thing and Drake was an added bonus. Now that rappers can buy him off you just see a lot of ready-made singles with him on it and it's not as impactful.
On the flip side tracks like No Lie are classic features because they sound like Drake songs.

pretty sure look alive and no guidance were originally drake songs that he gave to them
Basically this thread is the OP being salty Drake gets being the most impactful feature artist of all time
It’s never the artists mad, just salty stans who hate dude lol
Who made a career of a drake feat?
blocboy jb, ilovemakonnen and p reign
