BillIdk not true for everyone, how many artists put that money back into their own career or jewelry, etc. and are deadbeat parents / partners.
Also is the album sale really the best way to put money into these artists pockets? If anything the best way to get them money is through straight donations if you are trying to just support them as a person.
Labels get such a large cut most of the time in album sales/merch/touring that it’s not a very efficient use of your money if you are just trying to support the person and not the music.

If mediocre artists under f***ed up contracts don’t have stans then they’ll make a fraction of the money they do now
If anything it’s good that they have stans so they can get some significant payment out of their f***ed up deal

Yup, this is the biggest problem right now. Artists often lose sight of their own creativity because they feel indebted to give fans what they want, and that fear of disappointing fans who only want to hear music similar to what that artist has already made is hurting the medium
