    Alfredo Mobstah

Subject matter ain't really a criteria for being a GOAT.

then what are these niggas talking about itt

No because he doesn't have the impact. Rapping and music is on that level, but ultimately you need that impact on the game to be a hall of famer like biggie hov nas tupac etc etc

I have Pinata and Bandana on vinyl. Both are so dope.

my point still stands and one album doesn't save Jay from that. Gibbs pen game is fire too. maybe his next could be his 4:44

If he evolves artistically I'll be more than happy to see it but if he keeps making Alfredo type projects he'll never be on that level to me.

Even with his current attempt to go more mainstream a Blueprint/Black Album tier album from him seems very unlikely.

  • Feb 26, 2021

    is he not one?

  • He has multiple classics, and his rapping and pen game is top tier. Idk how you can argue against it

Lol I said he's top 10 but not GOAT tier and ppl still find a way to whine he's not as good of an artist as Nas, Jay, Ghost, Ye, Kendrick, 3K, etc but he's better than most ppl. It's simple

No doubt he'll go down as a great in history but if he doesn't step it up he won't be the GOAT. That's all I was saying

“Forward thinking” and “influence” are absurd measurements for judging quality of an artist. Judge them on their own merit.

Forward thinking in my own terms, I think that ppl like Kendrick and Kanye approach their art from a more elevated mentality than Gibbs.

You can’t have an elitist attitude towards poetry. Yes Gibbs is less experimental than those two critic darlings but it doesn’t take away from his skills as a rapper and the direction of his projects

Idk man even if you compare Gibbs to someone more in his lane like Ghost you can still easily see why Ghost is superior. I'd put Fishscale above Pinata without blinking.

I would say him being top 15 is a harder argument than him being either top 25 or even 50

I put Gibbs very close to top 10 which makes me a bigger fan of him than most ppl. I've been listening to him for a decade straight. But someone like Ghost is a different kind of monster it's unfair. His melodramatic delivery that perhaps sounds more effortless and natural than Gibbs' rapid flow. His vivid and colorful storytelling. Dude has songs and verses that legit made me tear up. It'll take a lot for Gibbs to compare. He's really great but needs to get better if he wants to be acknowledged as the best to ever do it.
