found this tiktok theorizing that the key difference between how gen z and millenials communicate is that gen z are more literal whereas millenials use more irony. in the video the creator also talks about how gen z music doesn't connect with him because he finds it too literal for his taste. i thought this could be an interesting discussion because i definitely see his point. what do yall think?
When Future said “gang of Koreans talk to me proper” was that supposed to be ironic or literal?
look up meta-irony
there's ur answer
yeah i think the overuse of meta-irony (irony poisoning) especially within online circles may have caused this sort of hypervigilance around how ideas are communicated within gen z

it was both
obviously listening to a Future verse, when you hear him say "gang" you'll think of some dudes from East Atlanta with dreadlocks and Dracos. but Koreans have tight knit communities and form groups of their own that could be considered a "gang" in a way. the real meaning of the line is to show that he came from tha mud, and a group of Korean professionals that would have probably made jokes about the person Future was before fame now treat him with respect bc of how much he has achieved
