I think Hip Hop is struggling with many of the problems that other genres are struggling with rn, oversaturation and safe music. Way too many artists that are copying what is popular without adding anything to it or trying to elevate it.

they dont wanna listen to us, man.
In the 90s we had classics - i mean C-L-A-S-S--I-C-S every month.
even in the 2000s, we had events, maybe not so much classics every month, but albums were events.

    WTF HAPPEND

It's certainly not in its worst, but it has been static for awhile and oversaturation has kicked in. That being said, there is A LOT (for better or worse) to explore outside of trap beats and melodic rapping if you need a break from the sound.

.... i literally spoke truth and you are denying it? This is how fake news spreads "them albums was mid too" like which ones specifically? We literally had classics every few weeks dropping.
The 2000s was a major step down but they still felt like special events which i still think is a positive.

Yeah I agree people get too attached to mainstream artists or just the genre in general, when there are a lot of underground artists that's providing better quality.

    Capone & Noreaga - Mid
Mase first album - EXTREMELY MIDA
Onyx - mid (but it had its moments)
Most of those albums Master P s***ted out - Mid, but entertaining
Brand Nubian - prototypical 90s rap
1/3 of the solo wu albums - Less entertaining than Paint drying

and there's more. NONE of these albums are interesting and they all sound flat as f***. There's a lot of great material from that era but dont act like they were all classic
