Lights in the universal building keep flickering
Which song is this from?
Drake's relentless dominance is a huge reason why rap became the #1 genre in the US. Remove him from the equation and the music industry looks a lot different.
Remove him from the equation and trap never crosses over and country or hyperpop probably takes its place
Pac, 50 and Wayne are some of the most commercially successful rappers ever. YoungBoy is competing with Drake and Taylor Swift with no mainstream media representation or huge singles. If street rappers rn aren’t “marketable enough” it’s for something completely separate from their image not being friendly
It’s insane how much bigger YoungBoy could’ve been if he played the Industry game
Which song is this from?

@worsnop984 I think Young Thug made trap music very interesting in the 2010s
Other than that, I do agree it can easily become mundane.
Muh artsy exception
Oh I’ve never heard of this
Enjoy fam, its so good
Muh artsy exception
If it was, it was worth it.
We got groundbreaking innovation to a mundane sub-genre with tired themes
everything after astroworld has been boring
I couldn’t name 10 great mainstream rap projects outside of Carti after that
Gunna was the last hope
Free wunner
What are your thoughts on YEAT?
What are your thoughts on YEAT?
I don’t respect rage hop outside of Carti whatsoever
Yeat got great albums tho
Need to hear his mixtapes
What are your thoughts on YEAT?
Next up if he can stay out of trouble and take the needle out of his arm
Remove him from the equation and trap never crosses over and country or hyperpop probably takes its place
no...? trap is a very easily digestible and palpable sound, drake definitely helped popularize it, but it would've found success either way
country and hyperpop would've definitely not had taken its place of all genres

Drake doing Versace, my way, where u at/Jumpman definitely helped spearhead things

Maybe for young folks having their “trap realized” moment but that totally discredits the mainstream onset of trap music led by T.I., Young Jeezy, and Gucci Mane.

I know he’s treated like a social pariah now but how do you feel about Tekashi 69’s debut album?
It’s got heavy rage overtones.
People itt saying the man in op is wrong and then go naming new artists that nobody outside of the internet has heard from proves what the guy in op is saying.
Rap is declining at a despicable pace because of the insane talent gap.
A decade ago we had Drake, Kendrick & J.Cole come up at the same time... S-tier artists. And then I forget slightly lesser tier artists like: Rocky, Mac Miller, Future, Thug...
Today we have JID ? Yeat? Baby Keem and Jack Harlow - the last one described as a one trick pony with no discernible trick. It's just not comparable.
i remember people saying stuff like this in 2012 when everyone thought EDM was gonna replace it lol
like if you heard 10 trap songs from people like Gucci, Future, 21 Savage, Migos you'll get the gist of it
