If people are really out here trying to rebrand this 30 year old style of music as "hyperpop", then yall at least gotta stop acting like it typically involves chipmunk vocals just because like one artist who used them got attention in past year.

I thought "hyperpop" was what children who had never heard of PC Music were calling PC Music. But it seems like its just being used to describe literally anything extremely upbeat and synthy

Ive seen two other threads today about it filled with "its just stuff like this but sped up" posts and chipmunk songs, so im not sure who is or isnt joking anymore.

it’s a catch all term for the most popular of the pc music/post gecs wave even tho most of what people think it constitutes is largely just Gecs musical aesthetic

But i also dont even know what "the sound" is supposed to describe if we're talking about 100 gecs. It's pretty easy to use it when describing for PC music, but gecs makes music thats more like a Pop version of sound collage than it is PC. Or maybe it's just the chipmunk voice that people are talking about when they describe "his sound", cause thats what they cling onto?
