like even when u use a productivity argument (or any argument based on economical reasons), these arguments are still dripped in moral and ethical presumption (why is productivity a good in itself?, if it raises the living standard of the masses why does this matter?)
also economical logic has been used to justify colonialism and other atrocities, whole beginning of international law between the church and spain/portugal colonization was giving colonizing rights to these countries based on arguments like the natives lacked productivity and weren't using their land to the fullest potential (which also had its moral presupposition).

Renting to people isn't categorically bad/evil etc, but it just isn't compatible with being a socialist. There's some nuance if you rent out of your own personal home, but if it's a complex/rental property, it's just pure landlordism. You can still be a decent person and landlord, but you just aren't much of a socialist then. That's okay, but it is what it is. The words gotta mean something at some level

I think some people overemphasize the morality of leftist thought and downplay the hard theory, so it pisses a lot of people off when everyone thinks of socialism as primarily or even exclusively a moral concept and not an a***ytical framework/economic model informed by a certain set of morals/ethics
Capitalism was informed by a moral code too, as was feudalism and slavery. Socialism just, far and away, has the best/most consistent/most grounded moral framework
