Yeah love that my tax dollars go towards Amazon subsidies. I have the excellent choice between supporting them or going to jail for tax evasion

well i dont agree with the government helping any big tech

This is why I'm in favor of less tax money going to the gov because them supporting private companies is bullshit

But ultimately, the vast bulk of the money Amazon gets is from people, not the gov.

I have a few friends that say “ppl like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, or Bill Gates could end world suffering & they actively choose not too.” Even though Jeff Bezos (as an example) donated $10 billion to charity, which is more than most other ppl ever would.

So, my question is, why do people feel like billionaires should be required to give up most/all of their wealth, even though they earned it?

I’m genuinely curious about this & do not know, so someone please enlighten me. Thanks

money wont solve world suffering, thats the issue.

Have you ever been poor? Like, really really poor? I'm talking about so poor that the only water you have access to at home is contaminated well water and you have to watch your mom skip meals just so that you can eat a couple of slices of bread and a scoop of rice? Money would have alleviated a lot of that suffering for my family.

The point is that there is enough for everybody in those situations, yet a few individuals just hoard hoard hoard.

You are right that it wouldn't solve it, tho. Like Synop said, the conditions have to change. It would be a step though.

just because hunger is solver for 1 family doesnt mean another two families would starve on top of it so is it really a step ?

The idea of charity is indicative of a dysfunctional society.

  • No not charity, taxes

We used to put 70% on over $10 million, we need to go back to that

i dont believe in the whole labour = theft theory like that but nobody gets rich in a vaccum and if you're rich it's thanks to the fact you live in a community so you should give back to that community or else you're a parasite

it's as fair to ask them to contribute than it is fair to help those in need

  • Jan 26, 2021

Most “charities” are a Bullshit and only benefits the one donating, very little to none of that money goes anywhere. There needs to be direct relief to ppl and issues, bezos put 10bil to “fight global warming” but wtf does that even entail and also he’s slushing it into his own company
