On the flip side of that argument, I believe music fans have stopped looked at music as art and started looking at it like content (thanks Spotify & TikTok), and the masses have began to accept mid from mainstream artists as long as they have something new to consume every few months.

Drake realized this (very clearly), and started putting out mid, after mid, after mid, after mid.

And his goal?

To stay relevant & on top of the yearly streaming charts.

Maybe he should take a step back and spend more than just a few months on ever album, take notes from Kanye, Travis, The Weeknd, or even Tyler.

Only project I feel like he crafted as a “product” and as a result turned out mid was CLB. Maybe Scorp too tbh. But HNM and Her Loss where clearly displays of genuine creativity. DLDT was a collection of loosies so obviously it wasn’t exactly a record with a strong theme creatively but nothing on there sounds like it was crafted for the explicit purpose of being a “product” other than maybe Toosie Slide (which I’ve always enjoyed). Bro just be vibing and making music and it BECOMES a marketable product because his brand as an A List rap icon is so solidified.

Kinda felt the same way at times but I stopped that s*** because I realized that Drake has his own unique legacy and he don’t gotta follow no preset path or way of doing things to be respected as an artist. He been earned his respect.

He not Hov and he’s not about to give us a Blueprint. He’s not Ye and he’s not gonna make a MBDTF. He’s not Kendrick and he’s not gonna give us a TPAB. He’s Drake and he gives us Drake projects, some better than others, a few mid, a few borderline classic but always fun and they always get the people going. Niggas just gotta let Drake be Drake man.

The holy trinity of lockdown Drizzy, vibe and sound is crazy

Out of all the projects that Drake, this one gets overlooked the most. A bit weird because recency bias should've kept this project somewhat in discussion. Maybe because the project is overall 'just' solid. There are a lot of good tracks but most of it isn't really top Drake material. I do fw it tho
