i mean honestly it was only ever tolerable when kanye did it for TLOP, but ever since then whenever an artist excessively delays/lies about their release date (cough narcissist, donda, for all the dogs cough) it’s just lame and corny to me now. like ffs why can’t niggas have a normal rollout now with a concrete release date, singles, videos etc?

leave the mysterious s*** for niggas like frank and d’angelo (and even those two niggas don’t lie about their release dates) and drop normally, don’t bullshit your fans and keep them waiting for s*** that’s most likely gonna disappoint (in the case of FATD and donda)

Tyler got the best rollouts tbh. Short and concise, never delayed anything.

An album being announced isn’t actually a rollout

It’s our fault for watching these dudes’ movements left and right

I wonder why this is seemingly only a thing in hip hop. Pop albums will be submitted weeks or even months in advance

Drake hasn’t delayed anything, we’ve never got an official date

2 months of teasing is certainly not “excessive” either, compared to most artists

Too old to care like that anymore when artists rollout an album over the course of 3 years but I think it still works

That describes Utopia but it was still being finished hours before release

Album was getting mixed/mastered in-house by one guy? Sounds nothing like what I described. Pop albums will have like 10+ engineers just for recording one song
