  • i was talkin to my boy he said whats the point of art if no one hears/sees/experiences it

i tried to explain that in the modern era most people dont understand true art, and that its more important to focus on making s*** that u personally appreciate

what do yall think? is art worthless if no one likes or discovers it, or is the value in its intrinsic creative qualities?

    depends on the artist

i feel like if you don't want appreciation, don't upload it or share it

mind you, you can still have artistic integrity and be a hugely successful artist, but art and commerce are often at odds with each other, in the minds of the person who creates it

    no art is worthless though

even an album by Xaviersobased is getting truly appreciated by Somebody

  • obvious boring nuanced answer is yes its ultimately more important to value wtf ure even making cus if u dont care who else will? ..but also wat is art without feedback

  • hardly anyone knows about my poetry book Squelchy but it still gives me a lot of pride. Maybe they'll discover it when I'm dead. Maybe it'll be a masterpiece lost to time.

    But I was Frankenstein.
    I created life.
    And that is the reward.

  • If I make something I think is dope I could give a f*** about who sees it, I'm just proud of myself for making it in the first place. I feel like that sense of personal accomplishment is priceless. Public appreciation is just an optional cherry on top.

  • I think from an individual standpoint, releasing and sharing your art is a good way to let go your claim of it. It helps you move on. You get to create more and move forward.

It doesn’t really matter if you don’t have a fan base or whatever. Do it for yourself. Do it to grow. Calling something “finished” is a blessing.

  • sounds like most ppl think that its fine to make art for yourself and not worry too much about how many people tap in or what they think, very dope tbh, thats what i think too

  • at the end of the day, its your art, so if it makes u happy then thats all that matters imo, the money and clout can be obtained in other ways if u desire those things

dont get me wrong i love releasing music and having ppl fw it, its not the only reason i create tho

yea the one thing about sharing music is if no one hears it you could argue youre wasting its potential, cus now you have no real realistic way of influencing the artform even if it could have been massively influential if released the proper way

  • give your friend a smack the value of art is in it’s conception it’s always there, this becomes crystal clear when something you didn’t put a lot of thought into pops off, sure it’s cool but you don’t gain alot of extra satisfaction from it

  • Art can be for all kinds of things. To express yourself and get your emotions out and they never see the light of day. They’re for your eyes and your eyes only. Or you want to share your art and hope it helps someone who feels like you, be able to channel those feelings through your art. And help them cope with it. Or maybe you just tryna get money and hoes with it. It is all up to you OP. Art is made for many reasons

  • As an artist it’s hard to say. I def want my stuff to be appreciated though.

nothing better than having your own museum

nothing better than welcoming people to experience that museum

you gonna die and be gone one day, share that gift when you ready cause the world needs it art is love and life

no potential wasted. you made, you listen to it, you know it’s greatness

the potential has already been reached everything else is ego constructed of other people’s opinions

this argument makes sense and i feel like im guilty of it lol

there's a lot of stuff i have in my vault that i'd rather hold on to until there's a proper fanbase to experience it.

i learned that the singer i work with , her friend helped coproduce a track on bad bunny's aoty:oh: and has other major placements. i feel like i'm one opportunity away from gettin the ball rollin so i think ima hold on to my personal grails for a bit longer...

Bro tons of artists do that, its lowkey smart like u said but the way i see it if i can make something great once i can do it again, and im sorta doing s*** solo dolo so im just releasing music into the void to slowly build a following

for sure. i member seeing fakemink talk about how his plan this whole time was to build up a big enough following before dropping the album he wants to drop.

i am working on solo stuff too that i still think is good. original songs + remixes of other songs. ive realized the importance of having at least an online presence. I'm trying to get stuff out before my friend drops her first single so in case anyone wants to know who produced it, ill have some stuff they can peep lol
