If we talking about creativity, talent, longevity and participations in classic albums I can't see any competition for them, maybe the only one capable of bothering them is RZA, but not quite

Dre imo p gassed up on these lists. There are a number of producers who proved to be great for many different eras and styles whereas Dre only ever rly excelled in one sub genre of hip hop. He's great obviously but I couldn't take him over producers like RZA, No ID, Just Blaze, Alchemist, Q Tip, Dahi, etc

Does dre even produce like that anymore? Hes just a brand at this point

Did yall hear his jik remixes? They were straight dookie

Both ye and Pharrell are still putting out heat 20+ years into their career, dre isnt

You have to admit Dre had so much reach compared to those other producers though. I think Still Dre has to be one of the most known songs among every age group.

The Chronic and 2001 alone (just to name his own projects) are enough gas for decades

  • Jun 22, 2020

    No to all 3

  • Jun 22, 2020

Greatest is a strong word. I would consider Kanye for one of the best ... plus Dilla, Madlib, Preemo, Q Tip, but music production has got to be one of the most subjective elements of music

great projects but they belong to one sub genre. No one is saying he is not great. But someone like a Kanye or Madlib or RZA were making fantastic beats 20-30 years ago and they kept being able to switch things up, produce for very different artists, and even modernize their staple sounds to last for decades.

    In no order I’ve got

    Pharrell
    Kanye
    Just Blaze
    Preemo
    Dilla
    RZA

Underrated but GOAT level producers are
    Organized Noize
    Boi 1da
    Alchemist
    Q tip
    DJ screw

Yeah he has produced some of the most iconic hip hop beats, which is a big plus. But that is just one factor in a lot to consider imo.

I mean you could argue 40 or even Soulja Boy have crafted beats more iconic than a lot of the guys I named.

with that said, PSA from Jay Z is a clear iconic beat that Just Blaze did.
