Title. I've been wanting to build one for a long ass time and never really committed because I haven't had the money/have been moving around a lot the past couple years, but I just got my first big job offer and I'm in a more stable spot now so I was thinking of investing in a new computer. My 2012 Macbook I got secondhand a few years ago has been wheezing for a minute now and the s*** I'm doing in school (CE) is just getting way too demanding for this computer. Ideally I want to dual boot a Linux/PC or Linux/Hackintosh machine since some of the s*** I do is more convenient within Linux and I'm pretty interested in starting to develop/play more games on PC once I get a better machine. Should I hold off or should I go for it? If so, I'm looking for some advice where to start given today's prices.

I feel you... But shouldn't it be possible for him to still get the stuff he wants if he's fast enough? If not... Well the i9 12900K or i9 12900KS is good too and a RTX 3080 Ti is good too as well

prebuilts are actually cheaper than building them yourself

i bought an ibuypower with a 2080 super and ryzen 5600x for $1200 last year. the 2080 super still goes for at least $800 by itself

there is a concern with the rest of the systems parts being cheap quality and potentially crapping out but i mean it’s not really a common thing so you’ll be alright

3000 series gpus are very hard to come by because of miners and resellers (at least thats how it was a few months back when i was keeping up with it)
