Apr 9, 2022Oxnard…they’re not. People like that listen to people like Eminem and NF and Logic. Those people would listen to one of Jack’s songs, hear his drums, and then call it mumble rap. You think a rapper making songs with EST Gee, Pooh Sheisty and Lil Baby is attracting that type of crowd?
Not saying where people don’t check for his music, just not those white people.
Again I said he makes music for G-eazy, macklemore, post malone listeners. they don't like rap but listen to white rappers and rap affiliates like them.

I'd agree w/ this back in 2018 but I think white people in general listen to a lot more urban music now from what I've seen. Streaming numbers generally back this up & the explosion in popularity of artists like Durk/Gunna/Lil Baby. Lil Baby's last album selling 4m doesn't happen without a huge amount of white people listening to him. Artists like NF/Logic/Geazy etcetc don't really get much attention anymore

I’m just saying the very niche subset of white people that “only listen to real music” aren’t checking for Jack’s music like they think they are.

I'm not saying Jack doesn't have impressive stats as well.
I'm just saying that people keep bringing up Jack's mainstream appeal like Baby doesn't have mainstream appeal either.
Jack is obviously gonna have an edge but Baby's been mainstream for quite a while now and Jack don't even got the features that Baby got which is another thing.

Jack Harlow only has one album to his name. Lil Baby didn't get a 4x Platinum album till his sophomore album and Lil Baby's debut album is still certified Platinum — same with Jack's debut album.

Basically, Jack has the potential to be a bigger commercial act but we still have to see cause Baby's stats are bigger rn.
His biggest album sold more. He has mixtapes that went Gold and Plat. He has feature stats and a feature run. He has an almost Diamond single and another single that's halfway Diamond. He has a song that was basically a modern anthem to the 2020 Protests.
Jack still has to prove himself after his album drops. Ya'll can't fall back on marketability for everything.
Russ could sell out an arena in Seattle and Portland quicker than Future rn but does that mean Russ is a bigger commercial act than Future?
