A white rapper is always going to be viewed as more marketable, that is facts. A dark skinned Drake isn’t nearly as big. Yeat stole Carti’s whole style and does it worse and he could become a bigger artist. Post is a dusty dirty looking white boy and people calling him marketable lol

Dark skin drake.. go back to sleep bro bro

But they're both mainstream acts. Yes, Post Malone is a lot more hit-driven than Kendrick but Kendrick is also a mainstream artist. GKMC/DAMN are both mainstream/accessible rap albums. Not to talk of the many pop features Kendrick has done.

What I'm talking about isn't rooted in numbers or mainstream presence.

I'm talking about stature in hip hop.

MC Hammer has an album that outsold every Wu album combined in the 90's but who's music is held higher in hip hop today.

Kendrick's stature in hip hop has always been higher than Post's while Post may be held higher in the pop world cause that's who he was marketed to in the 1st place.

You can't compare them because their lanes are way different.

So, do you also think the only reason why J. Cole is successful is because he's biracial?

    added iggy azeala (australia)

There's so many rappers in ATL chance of having same success as these white people im their perspective years is slim. Even the white dude who did astronaut in ocean had a top 5 hit and is from australia.

then the white guy who did roxanne song.

I legit checked two songs and White Iverson had an ATL co-writer lol

Iggy had one hit thanks to the pop hook

But my point has nothing to do with their standings in hip-hop culture. You can definitely compare them because Kendrick also makes accessible commercial music. It'd be different if he was some underground rapper with zero mainstream appeal but that's not the case.

This is because most white people are still heavily racist, they’ll rather support white musicians than black ones honestly…it’s sad that it’s still like that in 2022

Tyga was light skin SnapBack rap tho… Nicki Minaj is viewed as exotic. Wayne just transcended everything. 50 would be a good example of a black rapper viewed as super marketable, he had it all

But historically, there are way more successful dark-skinned rappers than light-skinned rappers.

    Eminem is an anomaly though.

Outside Em, I'd say Kanye, Snoop, Pac, Biggie, and 50 are still the biggest faces of hip hop worldwide.

Also, Kendrick is more commercially successful than Cole. Humble is even Diamond eligible.

    Baby did 197K same year

Jack might get higher charting singles, but Baby going to have the better first week again.
