Damn shame that Wayne feels so underrated and ignored these days though.

I remember when saying he wasn't the best rapper alive could start a fight and people played his mixtape songs like smash hits.

Now....Wayne is just there. Even the hype for C6 feels dead. He still snaps on features but even rap blogs pay it no mind anymore. Dude renegades Yeat and Cudi this year and nobody seems to care.

To be fair it isn't really a spectacular feat to renegade Yeat or Cudi lmao

Wayne keeps it pretty much just the music and no other nonsense or gimmick these days. It's the bullshit that gets people paying attention, gets them talking.

In my opinion, if I had nothing else to prove to people I wouldn't really care if I'm getting recognition from some blogs. I still got my fans, artists still reach out to me for features cause they know I got it.

Dude been at it for like 25 years or so? He straight lol

Once you hit your 3rd album it’s damn near all legacy at that point. Mfs judge your career off that first 3

If you blew up or had your peak before the 2010s, you're basically washed up or a legacy act at this point.

Currently, Beyonce is one of the few 90's/00's acts who's actually competing with the younger, relevant mainstream artists.

Wish Jeezy, TI, Common, Luda, Cam’ron, etc. got their flowers on this site the way Wayne has. 13 years and counting with maybe 3 solid projects and you’re wondering if he’s a legacy act?

Is Ice T and 50 Cent legacy acts now??

A legacy act has nothing to do with your success it has to do with how long you been in

Which for hiphop its like 10 to 15 years

Kanye West & Nicki Minaj has been a legacy act for a long time even tho they still do well, for example

Go stream them and make threads about them and their two solid projects in 20 years then.

No shade to the rappers you named but Wayne easily has a stronger legacy than all of them.

Camron's my dude and all and Wayne used to be influenced by Dipset but are you serious rn?

Wayne has plenty of decent features and mixtapes to make up for the album inconsistency and he's still cited as an influence by many rappers today.

Thats why this decade is partly depressing because its ONLY legacy acts holding Rap together on a mainstream level

Beyonce is a legact act too.

Obviously she is, no one said otherwise. She's probably one of the few legacy acts who still feels relevant in a way Lil Wayne currently isn't.

eeeeveryone is past their prime. even the ones who we think are ruling the world right now.

If you're talking about Drake and Taylor, this is 100% true.

I can't remember a time two people have remained this popular while coasting off their respective primes.

It's still funny to me that the biggest rap songs this year were from Ye, Future, Kendrick, and soon to be Eminem......4 rappers past the age of 35.

It's cool in a nostalgia sort of way but pretty sad when you see newer rappers struggling to reach those levels when it's supposed to be their era.

Edit: Actually 21's song was pretty big too albeit forgettable.

The kids don’t know how to rap unfortunately

They can hold a flow but they don’t know how to be competitively nice or come up with their own distinct style

They rely on gimmicks, shock value, nostalgia, and using well established formulas

And they don’t know how to make albums to save their lives

Also, Jay straight up is semi-retired. He hasn't dropped a solo album in 7 years.

He does some features here and there(which are hit or miss imho) but he's moved past rap at this point. He's a middle aged billionaire living life.

Aside from Nas, Black Thought, Billy Woods, Killer Mike have had strong late career primes this decade.
