    No. Music is art.

Art and entertainment are two distinct, yet interconnected things

Depends on POV. For listeners yeah. For artists it's more than that

People use music for meditation, working out, even as something to study too so I wouldn't say it's just entertainment. It can be used for productive aspects

I think we use the word entertainment in regards to music improperly for sure. The word entertainment as we understand it to apply to other artistic commodified mediums is used interchangeably with how it applies to music as a whole when that shouldn’t be the case. There are perhaps two leading purposes to listen to music for: entertainment and euphoria. When we draw a line in the sand and ask “is music just entertainment or not entertainment” we forgo the fact that music is unique in its place amongst art as being experienced within these two leading purposes.

    ENTERTAINMENT

Under this category, music is commonly experienced through means such as: parties, festivals, or just blaring it through the car speakers for everyone in it to enjoy. The purpose is to be entertained.

    EUPHORIA

Here, music is experienced for the purpose of artificially boosting dopamine. Songs as a format - given their short and patterned structure - especially lend themselves to quick and intense hormonal stimulation, ie masturbation and eating fast food. Artistically, the more accessible a song is, the quicker and more intense the hormonal stimulation, and the bigger the experience of euphoria is. Quite literally a high

    Which is better?

The short answer is neither is better. The long answer is: it’s better to see how each one is perceived and why. The more euphoric listening to music lends itself to a perceived lower brow form of engagement, as intellectual or artistic appreciation isn’t at the forefront. Listening to music for engagement with the qualities of its composition, or the merits of what a song is conveying through its lyrics falls under the entertainment category oddly enough

music is an outlet for an artist to pour their souls. i do not find any entertainment value in an album like "A Crow Looked at Me", but it's still a very amazing body of work

    I find it entertaining
Anything I actively desire to listen to is entertainment
There’s this idea that things are only entertaining if they’re fun
But no, if it stimulates me emotionally and intellectually, that’s entertainment

The only way things don’t fall into entertainment is if they’re boring

Music can be many things. entertainment, art, therapy, an enabler. It all depends.
