Good album. I was expecting this to be Nas’ version of “Here My Dear”…I know it’s corny but I kinda wish it was more vulnerable and had more songs like “Bye Bye Baby” and “Beautiful Life” (beautiful song which ended up on Lost Tapes 2). Gonna revisit it soon.
Great and mature album, very classy sounding but i prefer the KD series for bringing some of that grit and hunger back while feeling just as classy
It’s not a classic and i’m saying this as a huge Nas fan
Illmatic
It Was Written
Stillmatic
I feel like everybody agrees on fan or not that these are up there all time in hiphop history
And then personally i’d also rate God’s Son, KD2 & KD3 higher than Life is Good
But yeah some incredible cuts on there. Daughters is powerful and Locomotive is classic Nas

If Stillmatic is classic LIG is def a classic
Never really understood why people like this as much as they do. Good album for me but nothing special. KD series is much better, particularly KD3

Well my logic went with the fact that classic albums besides the quality of music also get made bc of cultural impact and Ether made a much bigger splash than anything on LIG
I also just think its a more consistent record in general
I’ve always thought this was a pretty bad album, not a single dope beat on it and not as mature as people make it out to be. I’d rate Nasir higher than this and even tho I’m a bigger Nas fan Hov did it better

No love for lost tapes? That’s a classic too
I can understand how people that don’t really fw Nas say this isn’t a classic, but as a Nas fan it’s a phenomenal album (SOS aside)

I always felt like Stillmatic really falls off a cliff after One Mic

Second childhood is literally the next track

Ok….even tho I’m not a big fan of that song. After that song it falls off a cliff
Destroy & Rebuild
The Flyest
Rule
My Country
What Goes Around
Every Ghetto
Literally no one ever talks about these songs and it’s practically half the album, they’re just not as good as the first half songs, and it’s always made me wonder why people rank this album so high
Yes. Only morons will disagree.
Like we still talking about this album 13 years later. Still so much praise and discussion over it.
An album that revived people's interest in and adoration of Nas in the early 2010s.
An album that had people saying "Nas still rapping like this at 40!?"
An album that essentially became a blueprint for what a rap album from an artist in their 40s should sound like content wise and skill wise.
An album so good that it's the major reason why people were clamoring for a follow up and allowed Nas to coast for six years until the next one popping up with occasional features.
An album so good that it still carried Nas in good favor with people despite Kanye doing his very best to sabotage Nas' discography with that bullshit ass Nasir album.
An album with Locomotive, A Queen's Story, Daughters, Cherry Wine, World's An Addiction, Bye Baby, Where's the Love, Nasty, The Don, Stay, Roses, The Black Bond, You Wouldn't Understand, and Accident Murderers.
And mfers will try to say it ain't a classic...aight man lmao
