So I was taking with my girlfriend. She was talking about inviting her friend for a New Year’s Eve party at her house. The dress code is plaid (idk) and my gf proceeds to say it might be awkward actually.
Her friend (who is Black) says she doesn’t wear plaid because it is racist.
She said her friend said that plaid had roots to slavery
Now I’m in shambles between laughing and googling to make sure I’m not ignorant.
Been googling for a minute and can’t find anything.
So please KTT help me. Is plaid racist or is this racist talk some twitter tier cap?
plaid may have had racist undertones at one point but not now. your friend sounds like they are trying to be woke, and while that is good, to protest wearing plaid is very stupid, and makes her look stupid (im sure they are not)
plaid as in the style or is it some company
As in the style. Like flannel shirts
tell her fight on, but she’s tripping on this one lmaoo
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Really curious to hear as to where she heard that from
I’m more shocked about someone thinking it’s a good idea to have a plaid themed party than this racist nonsense lol
plaid has been historically known to oppress graphic tees
everything would have had an attachment to anything. By this rationale literally everything is racist if I'm interpreting her correctly
