ik a lot of u guys r old heads, so u might not be aware of this, but carti's label has a MASSIVE amount of cultural capital with the youth. Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson are the closest thing we have gotten to 2016 uzi and carti w the amount of buzz they have in the online underground scene. When was the last time we saw a rapper label get this certified?

It’s funny how everyone thought Ken was a meme and they all switched up after his last album

I think he found marketable artists that align with the opium brand and made music that appeals to his fans

I think Ken and Homixide Gang mostly appeal to the post Carti era fandom of rap that exists bc of his influence, and that keeps them afloat more than anything Carti or his label are doing to boost their careers

I think they're successful bc of Carti's influence not bc he's a great label owner

he is probably a great mentor to have as a rapper though

    won't knock him

  • Destroy Lonely gonna last but the others are gonna be hangers on in a couple years

nah i think he deserves credit for that. being in the background and working mostly as a mentor is a way of running a label, and maybe it's a better strategy than what most people do. wtv promo is going on, Carti is getting his artists' music in front of the right people + his indirect approach means that Ken and Lone have stand alone appeal now.
