yeah when you start diving into artist catalogue you realize their later work isnt nowhere near their past works. Love HIStory and Invincible but they're not Bad or Thriller lvl. Prince has way more mid to ok projects cause of his huge output of albums

HIStory is the biggest selling double album of all time and matched Off The Wall's sales despite being twice the price.
Invincible moved 4.4 million units in approximately 2 weeks, faster than Thriller.
I’m saying that in the sense that they never lived up to their true potential, the allegations + media scrutiny overshadowed both the Dangerous & History era
MJ couldn’t even finish his tours, was hurt financial & mentally by the media outrage
Also invincible was sabotaged before it could really take off
So in retrospect & the grand scheme of things they lowkey underperformed but it’s mostly due to the controversy more than the album being duds

I never said they were flops though, Dangerous era was overshadowed by the controversy, this was even stated by MJ’s team & lawyers which lead to the payout to the Chandler family in the first place lol

Oh no, I mean in general.
The Dangerous Era was winding down by the time the Chandler accusations arose though, the album was out over a year and a half ago at that point.
The only planned single left was the title track and then the final leg of the tour.
Overall, with the hugely successful album and first leg of the tour coupled with the SuperBowl and Oprah interviews at the top of 1993, the era wasn't really overshadowed. It just didn't end very well. Lol
