I majorly disagree, and am an atheist.
Religon serves many benefits in society that you didn't address. Ill list them below.
1: Cultural history. Religon almost directly ties us to ancestors from centurys ago. It provides a link to a rich history of traditions that keep communitys together while giving us an identity.
For an example, most of my friends never go to church, but love Christmas. The traditions associated with the holiday allow families to come together and share a mutual happy experiance, which keeps their family close.
2: Sense of community. Churchs offer a communal setting where you can meet your neighbors and have some form of common interest. Churchs regularly host food pantries, community fund raisers, and fun events. In todays world, this social contact is becoming more and more crucial to keeping communities together.
3: a universal moral guide. As weird as this sounds, religion allows global communication to flow much easier. If I know im talking to someone whose Christian, I don't have to stress about whether their morality is completely different to mine. It provides a baseline to work with, which can be super important in trusting new people. Its why you usually hear the argument atheists are untrustworthy, you cant use a set of codified morality as a baseline.
Ive got more, but these are a couple benefits that counter the argument religion is for weak minded people.
okay, i will address these poins one at a time.
1. firstly, i think you basically refuted your own point pretty well by saying that your friends who don't practice christianity love christmas. Obviously we do not need to be relgious to enjoy many of the cultural practices that have derived from relgion in someway. Also, plenty of our cultural history does not invovle religion.
2. sense of community, i somewhat agree with this. However, belief in an entire false ideogloy is a hell of a price to pay for this. Perhaps we could figure out someway to have that same community built around something else besides church and worship. that would be good.
3. universal moral guide - this one is the most bullshit. yes relgions provide moral guidance, but tons of it is wrong. For example, hating gay people or killing followers of other religions. today more than ever, the moral code of most religions seems incredibly outdated. there are many other sources of moral guidance besides religion. one can read philosphy for example. plus simple rules like "treat others like you want to be treated" go a hell of a long way in guiding morality
also, the sheer amount of blood that has been shed over warring religions should nulify this point alone. any moral code that tells you to kill someone else for believing something different than you should be abandoned. religion does more to drive people apart and fuel hatred nowadays than it does to promote love and acceptance
I wouldn't say weak-minded, cuz all the religious people get butt hurt, but it does seem like religion is humanity's way to cope with the fact that we aren't s*** and our lives are meaningless. Plus some s*** in the bible actually happened (floods and what not), and when you don't have science, angel magic seems like a decent explanation.
its so boring to listen to atheists and their arguments. We get it you dont believe in nothing but science, you are also very intelligent and reasonable because you can see "behind the curtains".

so what do you have to say here? why do you think belief in religion is a good thing?

The religious argument is just as boring. "You have to blindly have faith".
Religion is another tool used to divide people
i went to jerusalem recently and that is possibly the most religious place on earth. there is literally sections of the city for each religion. and if you aren't part of that relgion, you aren't supposed to go into it. it's wild
so what do you have to say here? why do you think belief in religion is a good thing?
Why wouldnt it be allowed to believe in a creator of the universe? Do you think if there were other civilizations that they also wouldn't believe in a god/energy creator of it all? What is the goal of atheism? Should we all meet in buildings to discuss that god does not exist? What are the arguments for that?
Atheism is just a religion itself, you believe that there is just void.
Atheism is not science. And I also don't think you should have blindly faith. That is dumb and never was my argument. pedro
Not for weak minded people but it gives a lot of people comfort. Why throw away that comfort if you can believe? I personally can’t believe in religions but I get it and to say all people who believe in it are weak minded is a generalization especially when you realize religion is pretty closely linked to your own culture and thus besides giving you comfort in the spiritual sense it also gives a sense of community and belonging
it’s cause you ain’t seen no miracles yet op
I seen a homie turn some water to a f***ing Bentley
and now I believe
