Currently work at Best Buy and I’ve heard rumors that 75% management positions will be getting slashed. Anybody here work in retail and/or experiencing something like this?
There will always be a market for people who will want to physically purchase their goods. The online trend will continue to gain traction however as obviously it’s way more convenient and safer given the circumstances of COVID will only propel that forward
Only the big giants will stay for physical purchases AND be online. the smaller businesses we push online and depending on location and popularity may stay open
There’s will always be a place for retail especially with certain items
However the fat from the industry will be trimmed eventually, and even quicker bc of covid
absolutely
most malls will be extinct in the next 10 years
I hope, the mall nowadays is a cesspool of kids that look like this

Say it with ya chest @Mechanical
i straight up ghosted my job at the mall bc it’s ridiculous. malls are still packed and my mother is sick. thankfully not of covid, but it’s so stupid working a retail job realizing people can just shop online.
My job just cut a bunch of positions. My assistant manager is losing her position and they offered her a new one with less hours and less pay lol...shitty companies will continue to stay s***ty
Malls are already closing left and right, I can’t see shops like Target or Walmart going away any time soon tho. They’ve figured out how to function in the online marketplace pretty well with thing like contactless pickup and same day delivery. Brick and Mortar shops double as local warehouses for online shopping
Idk people still wanna go in and try stuff out and until tech is able to allow people to match their size dimensions over the internet with clothing with great accuracy then ion think so
I don't think all malls will go extinct but will morph into outlet malls. I live next to a normal mall and it's in terrible shape vs ten years ago but a new outlet mall also opened and that place is always packed with lines
The dying one is expensive with like full price Ralph and Tommy etc and the outlet stores are always doing huge sales
It can still exist but online shopping, especially through Covid, has been huge and sellers make more going online direct to consumer than through big box retail.

Hoping local businesses start becoming more of a thing. I don't like these sprawling chain retails.
I started retail summer of 2015. I watched the mall I was in die over the years especially during the holiday season. It’s kind of crazy tbh

This basically, but I think most retail small businesses will die tho rather find success online.
Depends what industry
Entertainment industry 100% gonna die off and be exclusively online
But stuff for your house and somewhat fashion no
Amazon stores will be widespread in the next decade, at the very least in the USA. The convenience of having something immediately can not be achieved with online shopping as of yet.
