Gonna be very interesting to see what his next era will be. Got a feeling hes going to try and make it as different as possible than this era. Going to have different hair and everything
Who do you think would have come out on top if they both released in 2020?
He’s not gonna drop when he can’t tour.
In terms of solo material absolutely. However the features haven't been all that unfortunately
It is a legendary era for real. It is not his most legendary tho, i dont even like BBTM but that era was the transition from famous artist to global super star. I may say that his most legendary era has not come yet, he got potential for years.
He did everything right except for the asthetics tho, they were trash and not original at all.
Braided weeknd >>> punched Weeknd in a suit
dunno why u think like that. if he drops 2021/2022 after all of grammy/superbowl exposure he can be even bigger.
on top of that he didn't even put up some crazy numbers with the album. just Blinding Lights
I'm not sure about that fam. They said the same thing when BBTM dropped. And they be saying the same with Drake since the last 10 years.
This era is absolutely iconic, no doubt. But im sure its not his peak and not his most iconic. I have a strong feeling the best is yet to come.
Fam, you've been in this forums as long as me lol. You know damn well how back in the day people said he was never going to have a hit.
Then they said CFMF was going to be his peak. Then The hills happened weeks after that lol. Then starboy peaking at #2 "confirmed" for some he really peaked. Now he proved them wrong again.
After SB performance, grammys and maybe more acting in movies, Weeknd is going to be even bigger, thats a fact. His next album may not be bigger, it is hard to achieve what he did, i agree with you. But thinking this is his peak is just wrong when the boy has showed his worth plenty times. With good music and a solid roll out, he can get 2 or 3 #1's if he really tries.

preach brother
Definitely
Though my fav era is Starboy
Can I ask, why is Starboy your fave era? The songs all sound relatively mainstream and there isn't the storyline we see with After Hours or the Trilogy mistakes or Kiss Land album. Are you a newer (post mixtape) fan?

Honestly, I listened to the mixtape s*** and personally, I thought it was mostly boring.
Same with Kissland and Beauty Behind The Madness. I liked the radio tracks and some album cuts. But overall, a little boring too
Starboy and After Hours. He totally went a bit (or a lot as said by many OG weeknd fans) pop with both albums.... and honestly? I love pop Abel.
I prefer pop Abel. I liked him before Starboy. But after I listened to Starboy and After Hours? I became a HUGE fan.
And I know I’m the minority. I know most of his biggest fans prefer old Abel. But for me? I love and prefer pop weekend

Absolutely nothing wrong with this at all. When The Weeknd makes pop music it’s fantastic.
Even on his “bad” pop tracks like Love To Lay, A Lonely Night, Rockin, etc it’s still better than 90% of the s*** you hear on the radio. I don’t think those tracks are bad btw just relaying the general consensus.
As much as the mixtapes mean to me and a lot of us, they’re not as accessible as his other music so it makes absolute sense that some people prefer the pop s***. It’s genuinely great music.
No lie the d***ged out mysterious villain vibe after kiss land —> right before bbtm was my favorite. Especially 2014 when all those remixes came out like or nah/drunk in love. Nigha was like batman .
As far as iconic/legendary eras I gotta say starboy man. That’s when he was at like peak stardom, I saw the man everywhere. His music is “bigger” now sure but I just hear less about him than back then. Also feel like the crowd his music is reaching is going more global as I just don’t hear his new s*** as much as starboy in public even though it has more listeners
