Was just listening and remembered having a mixed reaction the first time I heard it. The singles helped me get into it eventually and there are some classic Outkast songs on there.....but at the same time, this is where we first saw the division in the group and youd have to think a bunch of these songs were compromises and concessions to Andre's new creative direction. It's not a vibe totally foreign to what they'd been doing their entire career but this time it was hella heavy handed
I've been running through it and I'm not sure if it's as strong as any of their other albums as a whole, excluding Idlewild (which I'll prolly revisit this month at some point).
So....am I wrong?
I used to think it was
But it’s possibly the most creative rap album that will ever exist and they pulled it off.
Their best album
it's definitely a great project. I think folk just elevate it to a super high degree because it's Outkast.
it's not really touching ATLiens, Aquemini, or the debut at all.
Hell no it's not overrated. It's a classic and it deserves all the acclaim that it has gotten over the years. Stankonia was Outkast at they're most creative as a group.
It’s rated a classic
Which it is
The same exact album could drop today and it would still sound like nothing you’ve ever heard
The niggas that say is x overrated are the same ones who see the ratings but never hear it. Go listen to it you fool
Could just never be overrated (even if you remove the classic singles) just off of this songs
