wtf you want artists to just go lay on the couch after releasing what they don't know will be their "best work" forever according to nerds online?

  • Jan 14, 2021

Earning money, having fun, reasons for people to come out to your tour dates, possibly topping that opus

    Yeah a few

We wouldve been robbed of some incredible music if artists just stopped about their "opus".

What matters is not chasing that ghost and just moving forward. You may never reach the same height, but don't spend the rest of your career trying to. Reach for new heights.

    MJ ain’t stop at thriller

I get there's people like Lauryn Hill that were fine dropping one great album, but imagine if Kanye stopped at College Dropout instead of pursuing projects like Be, Late Registration, Graduation, and on and on

You ever think the artist enjoys making and releasing new music for their fans to listen to?

I wish Lauryn had dropped more music honestly. Miseducation is top 20 of all time, but she was too good to semi-retire. Truly a shame.

You’re lookin at this like a consumer and not an artist. If you’re an artist and you love music then you keep making music despite putting out your “Magnum Opus”.

You release music to feed your creative hunger. It’s like if an athlete finally won a championship and said welp I’m done with the sport now. Which is hardly ever the case. They try to do it again and again because they love the sport.

If you're a real artist, you're gonna make music for the rest of your life.

Don’t wanna be pretentious or something but it’s crazy how blatant it is who on here never did something creatively once in their lives

each has a fair argument, sure (except for DS2 as Future’s magnum opus, he’s topped that many times before and after)

but op’s acting like “magnum opus” is objective

makes sense with his thread history — his first thread was him giving contrarian opinions & telling people they’re facts
