I was thinking and noticed that in these past 2-3 era’s, you could see stuff happening in real time that caused the next era
For example
Ye and him beating 50 Cent in sales eventually caused the Blog era
From there, you could see in 2013/2014 the rise in the new ATL which would eventually go on to influence the soundcloud era.
Rn i dont see anything mainstream or underground that seems to be something that would create another era, is rap cooked?
Feel like Gen alpha needs someone to take inspo from a Kanye-esque juxtaposition from the current mainstream. Rap more about problems that generation faces and be transparent (obviously they have to be talented as well). More people follow in line and try to have a new age blog inspired era. Feels like the trap era is definitely in its twilight and we’re kinda just trying to find the next sound
The Drake Extermination
Whatever Drake does next could actually set off the next era

I mean it doesnt necessarily have to be a gen alpha person since they are all still so young. I mean most of Gen Z icons are millennials
Are we past the year/opium sound ?
Carti new album will bring a new wave of copy cats how WLR did

Yes good point they’re in like a tween stage probably also attributes to not identifying a new set of stars
When Kanye drops a fully AI album and show what is possible when it comes to bypassing sample clearance and use of voices and melodies and bringing prime Kanye back in 2025, it’s gonna shook the industry and the next gen will experiment with it further
A mix of things. I think Chromakopia will be one of them. Plus, The party "dying" right before our eyes, is also a factor.
Commercial rap falling off will honestly be the best thing for the next set of big artists. 2020s will arguably go down as one of the worst decades for the genre ever.
we need to move away from major labels
a lot of the best recent music has come from indie "boutique" labels
