I agree, the idea Drake never spent time here and or didn't live through black American culture or has no connection to it is just weird. That's what I'm attempting to push back on I'm not saying Drake is the "black American experience" at all but people tell it like he never went to America ever until he signed to young money. He was doing openers for Ice Cube and Mos Def in 06 he was in a writers camp for Detox in 06.

He was already an adult in 2006, and he was already well off into his teens, you don’t have to be poor to live the black American experience but the fact you can just go back to Canada when the summer is over is a much different experience than the actual black American experience
