How is the production being good a knock against Jay? No popular song ever is gonna be popular with bad production

He’s using all these relative arguments to say Jay isn’t a goat at all and it’s stupid. First it’s the argument Jay isn’t a goat at all cause he isn’t as good as Nas or Biggie, then his rapping isn’t anything to write home about cause people like his guest hooks and prod

Jay catalog full of filler and duds, masked by a handful of hot singles that popped either because A) pop singer hook or B) Kanye/production. His marketing is truly out of this world tbh

Didn't know that, good for Jay I guess

Only time TIDAL got any sort of traction was when 4:44 and Lemonade was released exclusively on it

Dead ass don't know anyone IRL that uses TIDAL or even heard of it

The mf with the most quotables ever isn’t a goat sure. The posterboy for being great at flow isn’t a goat yeah sure. The guy who made biggie stop writing his raps down isn’t a goat sure. The king of wordplay, I could go on

Is there plenty of lame s*** about his history? Yeah, and his discography isn’t flawless. But all that I listed + having some of the greatest classics in the genre’s history is nothing to scoff at. Mfs who are mad that their beloved Dr Dre-affiliated megastar rappers who fell off aren’t held in the same esteem as Hov can f*** off with these tired arguments. It’s old now

not an L. He put Ron Browz little attempt at being a solo artist into the ether

Jay must have been sick to his stomach hearing that autotuned "Ether Boy" tag all over the airwaves

  • Mar 2, 2023
    Experiment626

He wasn’t against this type of auto tune

this was the industry standard way of using it before Tpain

Todays use of auto tune for artist like Future, Thug etc. is not what u describing in this post

    I’m talking about both, tbh.
There’s also nothing wrong with the Futures, Travises, etc. of the world using it the way they are in my opinion either.
It’s just a vocal effect, and it’s fun and cool

Nah him losing 92 bricks of cocaine is probably his biggest L

2nd would be his investment of TIDAL and it flopping

Didn’t he sell his portion of it for hundreds of millions

    splice

he was lowkey dissing Ron Browz and not t-pain. nigga was committing war crimes with autotune and i know hov was sick of hearing this in the club

Premo’s gone on record sayin Biggie didn’t write down Unbelievable and that Biggie himself said he didn’t write anything down on paper and that was in 1994, and Hov and Big didn’t meet until 1996

so no Hov didn’t inspire Biggie to not write down his lyrics

  • Mar 3, 2023

    he owned those autotune merchants

  • Experiment626

Lmao would love to hear that record if it exists

But honestly Hov always been counter culture in his own way

He went against baggy street clothes too for suits & button ups

He went against the money phone

his thing is “growing up” hip hop
