Why bro just put “Yeat.” in the middle of his paragraph like that?

this is a Yeat slander thread in disguise.

I don’t think anything could be as bad as the vine era

how so? Music was good in 2014 and 2015.
I don't remember Vine having much traction past 2016.

  • Mar 10, 2022

Yeah I feel you. I liked Yeat’s s*** but honestly I haven’t gone back to it. Only thing I’ve liked recently is Kay Flock and B Lovee. Nothing interesting these days. But for sure looking forward to Durk and to checking out the dababy and YB s***

    No one is innovating.

People just extending on previous sounds little by little while the game slows down to a crawl pace

There’s multiple scenes that are diverse from each other but they are all things that have been done for years minus these rage beats which are basically the only new sound to pop up this decade in rap

True. Not even underground rap is doing anything innovative

  • Mar 10, 2022

mainstream is shot to s***, u can say that m
but imma repeat what others have been saying.

underground is so extraordinary rn. i love what slums is doing man

we’re not gonna see mainstream pick up steam until certain artists make that next step. what’s been stopping some genuinely good artists from making that next step, has less to do with their own talent and more to do with pandemic.

live music really changes everything. sure there’s still shows but i think it’s still very hard to do it at the pace one needs to, to really build a large fanbase

It’s not exactly innovative but what the underground is doing (in some areas) is a fresh breath of air and more interesting imo than what we find on the surface

And even then I’m sure we can find someone doing something innovative

These are all dudes that came up pre 2018

True, but as far as artists that have dropped new albums/songs in the last couple of years they've been what I've bumping lately. Saba's new album as well.

Give me 5 names in the underground and I’ll listen to everyone of those names but I’m going to judge them on the criteria of what I think is a great rapper. Not a great rapper for today nor any interesting rapper but a great rapper from any era,I’m going to compare them with the best rappers throughout my history.

  • Mar 12, 2022

yeah I mean, ofc there’s always good music out there BUT yeah if the new big mainstream guys are gonna be Durk and Baby … then yeah, we’re in for a pretty boring era.
