Timbaland is undeniably one of the greatest producers ever, but his strongest impact is arguably in R&B and pop rather than traditional hip-hop.

Dre, Premier, and others built their legacies within hip-hop culture itself.

I see your point especially when it comes to full albums.

But man....Timbo's hip hop beats were generally amazing.

It's too bad he only did full projects with Missy and Magoo and not a prime Hov or DMX.

Yeah, Timbaland has plenty of great hip-hop records, no doubt. But I’ve always seen him more through the lens of R&B - and at times, pop.

You can even trace that back to his come-up in the industry. He, along with Missy Elliott, Magoo, Tweet, and Stevie J, all came up under DeVante Swing from Jodeci.

Fun fact: Timbaland actually ghost-produced No More Pain on 2Pac’s All Eyez on Me.

In my opinion he still has that X factor, it’s just gotta take the right artist to come across him and for them to lock in

But he’s on that ai bullshit so who knows

  • Apr 3, 2025

He ruined his own legacy with his recent views on AI / artists. I can’t even remember the last good timbo beat anyways. Maybe that one pusha t track. Idk.

  • Apr 3, 2025

Just due. He couldn’t make Tink a star.

  • Apr 3, 2025

He has way too many classics

Those saying he was more R&B gotta remember that R&B and hip hop are extremely tied together and his s*** was still very hip hop even if it had someone like Aaliyah on it

    Dipset Forever

He's given his dues. Just had no longevity after like 2008 and is now seen as a meme producer

Beats like Tom ford and say something were still crazy

Times just switched to where he didnt get certain placements that would have kept him hot. You never heard Timb x Keef Durk Migos Future Thug etc for some reason

All he had to do was tap into that and he was good

    Aaliyah 🐐
    Missy🐐
    JT🐐
    Ginuwine🐐

  • Apr 3, 2025

He is one of the few producers that very much gets his due

  • Apr 3, 2025

I think just about everybody knows Timbo is one of the best producers of all time

    rx friendly ghost

    all of these were trash!

I’ll give you MCHG, 20/20 part one production was nuts, and he had some smackers on Beyonce
