I just don't know why people itt going to such lengths to say Chris Brown wasn't a superstar. From 2007 - 2013 that nigga was everywhere.
I hate even using charts and certs, but that nigga got multiple gold and platinum selling albums across 3-4 different continents from 2005-2014. During this time dude headlined tours in Africa, Japan, Australia, the UK, Italy, Germany, Brazil, the Caribbean, nigga even been to Dubai. Non-superstars are not doing any of this, can we please be real?
It's okay to admit you are just plain wrong I promise nothing is going to happen to you if that's what you're afraid of lmao
It IS possible to acknowledge he's a superstar and that most of his albums are trash. I do it often because two things can be true, crazy concept!
Is Brent unable to be a superstar?
he's still growing in popularity so i'm not gonna say he couldn't but i think his aesthetic favors the artsy reclusive more than the superstar iconic energy that's needed.

if u a superstar are you a superstar forever or can you loose your superstar status?
Trey songz time was 2000-2010 he was the best rnb singer of that time
Trey Songz was fire....but no, he wasn't the best for 10 years lol. He had a year or so maybe you could claim that but 10? You're high bro.
2005-2008 CB was hits on hits on hits. He came very close to Confessions.
No he didn't lol and it's ok that he doesn't. Stop this narrative. CB is a still a legend.
if u a superstar are you a superstar forever or can you loose your superstar status?
You can and it's clear that he lost it to Drake
if u a superstar are you a superstar forever or can you loose your superstar status?
You can lose it and just become a legacy act or lose it because of other circumstances (CB, R Kelly)
Chris Brown is the biggest out of his class, but his class also was the beginning of the lowering of the bar within R&B
But its not about being biased bro I witnessed CB’s rise from Yo, I remember the video release, and the ceiling that was put on him due to his multiple shortcomings (not just the rih s***)
That ceiling effects ALOT bro. Especially reach (which as we know is a big aspect of being a superstar)
That’s why the difference between a Usher and a CB is bigger than us “savants” on a music nerd site think. Some songs by CB that WE think are gonna ring off everywhere? Not gonna have the same effect everywhere the same way a Usher will. That hypothetical Verzuz (By and judged by real people that actually be outside, not the same 9-10 ppl on ktt that keep spamming they “ktt verzuz” s*** in every goddamn thread.) gets real ugly after 8 songs in
P.S. And quite frankly way too many ppl itt name dropped Trey Songz (who couldnt even really sing frfr) as another one which makes me HIGHLY question a lot of niggas taste on R&B in the 1st place lol.
Am I missing something about Trey not being able to sing frfr?
Like I love Trey, not putting him in this conversation, but I always thought he had a very solid voice.
Thought I was going crazy not seeing his f***ing name in here
Ne-Yo elite song writer, has some quality projects....but not superstar.
You can and it's clear that he lost it to Drake
damn u saying drake took his ex ting n his status type beat then gifted him no guidance as consolation i know breezy was like this after a binge
Frank dont call himself an R&B singer but a songwriter
Frank Ocean is existential and b.
This is what article states about Chris Brown and Weeknd btw:
None can match Usher for hits or for classics or for oomph. Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber are pop stars cosplaying R&B (though the former is a distinguished, if lesser, performer), and have no real claim. The ship has sailed for Chris Brown. The Weeknd is trying — definitely successful enough, and maybe even talented enough, but look no further than his own Super Bowl halftime show to really get a sense of the distance between him and Usher.
NPR hates short people
i think jt's new album will def clear ushers new project u prefer justified to confessions?
Timabaland struck gold with JT and Giuwine

I mean think about it. All these awards that's given to Drake now could've been giving to Chris, if he actually went on a classic run in the 2010s and had an actual team of talented creatives.
Drake was blessed to have a team that did everything to make him the biggest artist of this generation with a few classic albums under his belt.
Chris have no one.
The Weeknd is an R&B super star idc that he does pop now
The Weeknd last real R&B project are nearly a decade ago
Justin is actually the better artist and it’s not even close lol
This new Usher album proves it
2005-2008 CB was hits on hits on hits. He came very close to Confessions.
He had hits. But even those hits. They were big, but I don't think any of his hits back then ever hit the cultural impact of Usher's biggest hits in his prime
Kiss Kiss was a big song for example. But "Yeah" was MASSIVE. Massive is still probably underselling how huge it was.
With you was huge song. But I dowsnt have remotely close to the impact of Burn.
Chris Brown was definitely huge in the prime of his career; and was definitely on his way to becoming the next massive R&B star. But I don't think he ever hit Usher's peak popularity.

Comparing to Yeah!, one of the biggest songs ever, kinda disingenuous, no?
Obviously its hard to get to that level
He could still be the most recent R&B superstar without being the level Usher was
The Weeknd last real R&B project are nearly a decade ago
What makes the tapes or Kiss Land R&B to you?
Let’s unwrap this
Abel has never had a conventionally R&B style of singing which is IMO the most important aspect of R&B music

Most of CB's hits haven't really aged well either....whereas most of Usher's haven't.
