Died as fast as it started. It just seems like its alive every year because a different group of people find it and obsess over the aesthetic every year. This was me finding Vaporwave in 2014

vaporowave’s influence disseminated into a lo-fi revival in the mainstream instead of solidifying into its own genre

even then it’s originations were in older indie waves like chillwave (neon indian, toro y moi, washed out, memory tapes)

nah vapor wave in itself came from 80’s revival in the indie scene and was separate from C+S

slowed+reverb is just the two paths of chopped and screwed and post-vaporwave lo-fi coming together in a big gentrified mess

this style originated from MadLib & Knxwledge type sampling instead of vaporwave

both are lo-fi parallels that aided each other in recognition but their history is different
