Feb 20, 2022Yes. The anti-mumble rap movement that old heads were on was a mistake and probably changed hip-hop for the worse long term. Not saying these new artist like Yeat are hurting hip-hop but I mean in a way that rejecting tradition and vets in the game is cooler

whippet volverseyeah. he got the gift and curse of becoming a meme early. so in a way like Drake or Young Thug he has strong fanbase that will ride or die. but he he also has people that go too hard for him and make memes of him being a great artist that people take seriously. i like his music but Yeat memes took him to a new level and that gave him haters as well
He’s already surpassed being a meme, he’s not close to that territory. He has a genuine fan base and actual engagement over every social media platform + DSPs…

Feb 21, 2022Honestly, damn near every rapper gets some haters or polarizing views when they're at their peak.
Even Wayne was getting memed to oblivion in the early 2010's despite being a GOAT.
But only longevity and/or consistency will separate the fads from the new ringleaders.
Yeat will either become a fad like Tekashi/Pump or become a new legend in the making. Only time will tell.
