EverestHe has such a great presence on a mic and his charisma is as good as ever, but after a few listens, I think itās kind of a step backwards from THIB songwriting wise (which to many was already a step backwards)
Lots of sweet sounding stuff with a lot of personal lyrics but the actual depth of the songs from a craft perspective is a bit dry and tiring for me
not sure why but on a lot of these I just donāt think what heās doing vocally is making the songs as good as they can be. Especially when the way he chose to tackle the song is more melodic than rapping And itās the first Isaiah album with songs I legit do not like and think are bad. And this albums best songs IMO donāt stack up to the best songs on any of his last 3 albums. Gonna play tf out of it as I do with anything he will ever drop and I hope I get more out the vibey melodic songs as I get more familiar

To me TST striked a balance between the melodies and mumbling with the actual rapping but since then it's been a downgrade ever since. It sucks because Isaiah is one of my favorites. I'm going to continue to listen as well and see if anything resonates on further listens.

The versatility heās showing in this is so insane and this feels like an album that can only have been made post the whole situation that went down but not simply in terms of subject matter but how he is intentionally choosing to express himself this time around. Zay sounds like an artist who knows exactly who he is and is walking in that proudly and authentically and ultimately, every decision made on this record both lyrically and sonically feels like an expression of this new found lease on life.
