I feel you but regardless if its conceptual or not. The lyrics are personal. These songs obviously mean something to him. Its not like hes Fewtch or something and freestyles 10 songs in the studio. You feel me? As a listener, its easy to think, oh this aint anything too hard to come up with. As the artist, you gotta think that these lyrics are intentional and meticulously placed to fit the delivery. The beat has to fit right to him. He is currensy in the vibey sense but idk man, currensy observes his surroundings whereas Zay may do that while looking inward. Music is art and its not taken lightly by some. This music represents his life.

listen to this song, I'm sure Zay freestyled this song in one session and it's still fire. He could easily drop EPs with these type of songs (song is confirmed to not make the album).

I feel what you say too, and this album is confirmed to have a lot of personal songs but not every project of his has to be "depressing" or insightful. Zay showed he can make fun records too, he could also do more features if he doesn't want to pump out projects all the time. He said himself he wanted to take this music s*** more seriously and be able to provide to his family, best way for this is dropping more often and doing more features.

edit: and Zay has shown that he is able to freestyle a lot of songs in a short time in his streams.

I think we got a decent answer in that genius interview where he says he likes to make music for himself and the people around him. Even though he can crank out chill songs he isn’t the person that feels the need to share it all with the world.

And that is why ik for a fact this will be his last album and he will just make music for his friends and family sad tho cuz the fans deserve at least 2 mixtapes of stuff that’s gonna collect dust
