krishna bounddid you have a soda machine like inside the school? We had vending machines which had soda but they were located in a courtyard not inside the cafeteria itself
We had soda/water machines as early as middle school. I’d estimate there were about 20 on site.

and the disaster of policy in the obama adminstration which tried to fix it somehow made it worseall i remember is that policy made the bread rolls worse

its actually insane that most schools basically rely on a small group of suppliers/distributors which are actually the same food suppliers who supply food to franchises like Dominoes as well as frozen meals in stores. this is actually why sometimes people try certain frozen foods or chain restaurants and say it gives them nostalgia for school lunch, it's literally the same food
