My grandad on my moms side used to curse the ones responsible for the partition. He emigrated from India to Pakistan during the partition, but many of his poorer friends couldn’t. Can you imagine that?

The poor guy loved a Hindu girl, it turns out she was raped & killed by bandits during the chaos of the partition. The man was 90 but said her smile still haunted her with tears in his eyes. Before dying he admitted he was only a good person so he’d make it to heaven, just so he could tell God to reunite them there.
