This album has been aging so good lol
3 years since and nothing has released that sounds like it since and nothing did before. It is flawed but I’d take a flaws great unique project over a solid ok one without many flaws

The atmosphere is like this dark mucky pit of sound I see why he made it long. The constant distorted guitar power chords mixed with his slow and melodic delivery is soooo unique and cool. At the same time it has all these OD ambient songs that sound like being lost in a forest or these aquatic sounding higher energy brighter tones for the high energy sections… and the hooks the whole time r so catchy. It’s just a whole album of THICK atmosphere

Yea it’s long but I’d say the only songs I don’t like are new new, make sum work, promo and raver.
Right now is ok
Worth it is great but slows the album down
Everything else is great and essential and should stay

The fact he did this at the most important peak fame moment of his career too is wild as f*** lol

what do you mean when you say it deserved better? like more sales? more fan appreciation? I think it's pretty well received among his fans and even outsiders to the Opium wave. This is the project that really made me a fan of his and take his music more seriously. he really honed in on a solid sound. I'm glad he didn't try to do an If looks could kill 2 with Love Lasts Forever, despite enjoying it, I appreciate that he's not a stagnant artist.

And the UNRELEASED OMG

I just mean that at the time and until recently amongst a growing sentiment, that album was p universally panned, s***ted on, and prolly hurt his career and was seen as the start of a downfall. Also ya I don’t like love last forever but I fully agree I’m glad he’s always switching it up and taking big risks it’s why he’s my fav on the label tbh

Yea I feel like u could cut 4 maybe 5 but that’s still 21 or 20/25. It is long af at the same time it’s def supposed to be this like long dark pit of an album to get lost in which I like

It’s decent. If the whole album was the same quality as the title track then it coulda been a new age classic but it starts to sound kinda samey to my memory. Might give it another spin soon

Yea common album lengths fluctuate throughout time. ur making an assumption a long album was only made long cuz of a trend of longer albums off nothing else other than the trend and viability. I think having some features or any kind of acessibility would prolly be a bit higher on the list for the label than a 30 song album of ambient trap music with power chords dawg the artist can also just want a long album cuz they wanted a long album bro

I don’t know the exact reason hence why I don’t claim it or undercut someone’s art with cynical assumptions…? He’s very clearly been on record talking about how this album meant a lot to him and he worked hard on it tho
