  • I'm a bigger Wayne fan but sheesh.....this is pretty shocking ngl. Either the Diddy documentary was that good or C6 was that disappointing.

    Numbers! on KTT2

This isn't really a numbers thread.

More so a shocking one as 50 hasn't put out a relevant album since 2007 while Wayne has been far more active.

Lil Wayne is better but 50 got bigger songs globally

  • Probably as a result of the Diddy Doc as well as Wayne last album being hot garbage.

    Well it’s Spotify

So that doesn’t mean all the plays mean people are pressing play. Just algorithmic selections yeah?

The young money/cash money crew is interesting cause they ran the US for years but never really crossed over to the rest of the world like 50, Em or even Snoop. Those 3 might still be the most popular rappers outside of the US, barring BIG and Pac

it's simple. 50 has massive, undeniable hits that left a huge cultural impact. Wayne's biggest hits aren't as transcendent, and his most commercially successful album wasn't good enough to leave an impact.

A lot of what makes Wayne great is spread out across mixtapes that aren't on streaming, features no one listens to, "older" albums like C1 and C2, and on inconsistent albums in the 2nd half of his career. he's a guy you had to be there to appreciate.

There's more to 50 than GRODT but if you show someone Many Men and In Da Club they'll understand.

snoop, em and 50 had brand marketing geniuses behind them. young money did not.

I don’t get why y’all always discount Kanye in this conversation. In what world is Snoop Dogg more popular than Kanye West

because snoop/50/em have popularity in the boondocks of western civilization: Eastern Europe. like even these people who live out in the middle of nowhere fw them.

and they don't know enough about Asia to understand how much people in China fw Ye. At the same time, to my understanding Indians love eminem, like in my dorm the Indian kids were bumping Revival era Eminem. so it could be dead even there too.

  • I knew a couple of dudes straight from Africa who never heard of Drake but could quote Eminem and 50

So does Kanye though? You cannot convince me that people in international countries could name more Snoop Dogg songs than they could Kanye songs

I always say this but as far as europeans are concerned the only rappers that exist are Em, 50, Snoop, kanye, Pac, and whatever non-english speaking rappers that have over there
