Drake is lazy when it comes to OVO sound and doing the bare minimum like shooting a video for your own features on your label

Y’all keep bringing up money when the problem is his lack of presence for his artist is the issue.

Obviously we don’t know the behind the scenes of how they work with OVO artists, but it is crazy to think about how much more of a spotlight they could shine on them if they wanted to.

Not saying every label has to do the same thing, the artists are probably happy with OVO and the freedom they get from it, but even if you look at how Lil Wayne would hype up members of Young Money, give them their own shine, get them collaborating, videos, etc.

I definitely think OVO would kill it if they came with a collaborative, moody R&B album together. But also, if that’s now how they want to do things over there I get it.

15/16 would’ve been absolutely perfect
but there was a lot of s*** with drake going on those times
too many excuses for ovo to not have a collab album tape at some time
he just don’t care and maybe the rest don’t either

i think the truth is that he doesn't have much of a relationship with his artists outside of Party. You have to remember that Drake doesn't really have too much to do with signing these artists, Oliver and 40 do. I'm
sure he approves of them and stamps them but if he doesn't really know you like that he's not gonna go above and beyond for them by filming videos or doing a compilation album (like @Lil_Jimmy said) as busy as he is being the biggest rapper in the world. pretty sure Roy said in 2020 that he's never even been in the studio with Drake. Party has and Majid Jordan have, maybe dvsn bc Drake and 85 have a relationship but OVO as a brand seems more important to Drake than the artists on the label.

We know this but thats the promblem you cant expect your label to be succesful if the big guy in it isnt promoting and pushing them.thug,wayne even cole didnt grow up with this artits even drake was simply brought to wayne but they liked what they saw and simply went to work in creating that relationship.drake is the biggest artist in the world yet the only mainstream act his directly put on is able ? Lke how.he promotes lil baby more than he does his on label which is crazy to me.remember when he took almost a whole day to post on his story about his majid colab but posts his gunna and thug features immedietly.Dvsn signed a managment dead with lvrn meaning the inhouse managment of ovo is s***ty most people only sign managment deals with outside companies when there on label cant give them that push like megan.its like they dont even try with ovo. drake dosent run ovo sound 40 does and ovo brand is run by oliver but when will he ever get up and pull his own weight in them only God knows

probably a personality thing. Drake likes to party, Drake likes to go to the club and f*** strippers, Drake likes to roll with his crew of 15+ people whenever he's outside. most of the guys on OVO are moody, depressed r&b niggas who are introverted, stay at home with their girlfriend and make music all day. they just don't match his vibe. Lil Baby and Drake go to the casino together, Smiley and Drake are boxing buddies, it's just a matter of being in his element
maybe that's not fair to people like Majid and Roy but it is what it is

Drake still gifting majid, dvsn, baka, party songs despite not being that involved label wise. He gave Majid a finished song with Stars Align, gave em the concept of My Love, wrote Live Up To My Name for Baka, wrote most of Dont Run for Party, has writing credits on Dvsn Keep Calm etc etc
