Damn didn’t know this is where drake got the line about music when it hit you feel no pain
I saw them open for Black Star in Denver
Both acts it was their first show in years, but I think specifically Dead Prez hadn't performed together in a long ass time

They locked our phones in a pouch so you won't see many videos or pics from the event, however I managed to sneak mine in
Took a cheap ass Frontier flight to go cause Black Star is one of my favorite acts and it was an odd one off

Oh jeez so super recent, wow. Well that's dope that they're performing together again, did they seem to enjoy it? Or was it painful

Black Star or Dead Prez? Both acts seemed like they were having a great time. Yasiin is magnetic tho. When he hits the stage, he takes the spotlight even when he isn't trying to.
Conscious rap never stood a chance because it could never transcend the medium it was created in, much like it's contemporaries in punk and metal (RATM, CRASS, etc.)
It simply moved politics into culture/art. Art is supposed to compliment politics, but it can never stand in for it as a whole.

This is true! but conscious rap will always survive and have value because it speaks to the everyman. It transcends class. Immortal Technique is conscious, but so is Mos Def, so is ATCQ. Electric Relaxation is a conscious rap song, and it's probably one of the top 50 most famous rap songs on the planet among many others
And aint nobody running out to record stores to cop no uzi vert or lil baby vinyls, thats what DSP's for 😆
