its cuz it was a mixtape lmao. A lot of the hip hop community knew about Kendrick before the drake feature. The City verse was a big moment from him as well. Kendrick was always going to get the connects lmao. And Rocky also had a huge mixtape before F***in Problems. Drake just took advantage of these rising rappers to boost his own platform.

That's it's first week & it barely had any promo while still being underground while eventually going over 100,000, & he was blowing up in the underground & got the Dre connect during the creation of Sxn 80. Which is what lead to GKMC happening. OD was also received good, & sxn 80's ADHD was & still is a big song.

Drake helped, but he was going to come up regardless. Even if it was lesser.

Same with Rocky. His tape was giant underground & Drake did help, but he was still going to blow regardless to some degree in the mainstream.

This is like chalking all of Drake's success to Wayne & Kanye. He was still gonna blow to some degree regardless.
