Easily one of the most consistently acclaimed comedy shows during its run, big influence on FX and subsequent shows, written, directed and edited by Louis CK, and then the sexual abuse/assault accounts came out and it’s like it never even existed.
I don’t ever see it brought up anymore, which I suppose is due to the ties to its creator, but how much it reflects on them and their issues that led to his current career trajectory (ie torpedoing).
It’s just something that always struck me how a series like that has seemingly been erased from the collective conscious because it’s seemingly so taboo to bring up.
One of the best shows ever truly.
'so did the fat lady' episode
the episodes where david lynch teaches louie to host late night
the episode where louie's old failed comedy friend wants to kill himself
the romance between Louie and Pamela was so realistic and awkward and raw
the hour long flashback episode with Jeremy Renner and F Murray Abraham about Louie smoking pot in high school
the writing and directing was really something special. It was such a critical darling at the time but i'm pretty sure it'll be lost to cult-classic material at this point. Can't even watch the show anywhere besides DVDs or getting it off Louie's site as a paid-download
This has gradually become the fate of media in the last 8-10 years.
F*** all these networks, download all your s*** and back it up.

I put it in the same tier as all the greats. Magic lil show, you never knew what you were gonna get.
Yea the show is/was amazing. A defining work that was able to blend so many different elements of genre and filmmaking into one cohesive vision.
Great show and super influential to a lot of 'dramedy' and comedian-led shows. Loved how surreal it could be at times.
Calling Louie ck s***offender allegations “troubles” is crazy
& they aren't even allegations
He confirmed it to be true
saw a tweet about this earlier today
one of the goat shows, got it on my external hd along with plenty of other shows/movies, seems like a good time for a rewatch

He had a movie shot and ready to release that disappeared too

I mean at the end of the day what else would you call it? It's bizarre and perverted but not quite rape level s***
Guy talking about a show not getting d***rided enough after it was exposed he was a sexual predator. What a dumbass
Go run back some cosby show and ignition remix too you stupid f***

there’s also a scene in an episode of louie that’s describes this
Feel like I watched a lot of it and none of it stuck with me.
Louie's movie Fourth of July was good tho
another episode where he threatens to non consensually masturbate to a woman
the episode where he tried to kiss pamela against her consent in retrospective...
the blueprint for mad shows

I didn’t mean it in a dismissive way, especially from the perspective of the victim (or victims), it was just a very bizarre period that kind of re-contextualized a lot of his career up until that point, so it was shocking but then very quickly not shocking.
I’ll edit it because I can see how it could appear to be downplaying what happened.
Also, to be honest, I’ve never even seen the show and have had no interest in doing so.
