You say "undetectable" but they literally detected the drones "in the vicinity" now who's not making sense? Satellites are ancient technology at this point and who's to say there was even one above the base at the correct time to be used for surveillance.

You are especially over estimating base defense on our own home territory, there is little threat and therefore little use for investment in systems that would down unidentified drones within minutes when detected in the vicinity of the base because there is little credible threat that deep in america.

The more credible and interesting sightings of these type of drones, to me, are the ones seen by Naval forces out at sea because they are actually out there with active defenses and detection.

Also just because there are ways to "take over drones" doesn't mean they are operational or in any large scale production use for defense of a base.

Undetectable because no one to this very moment has been able to crack the radio frequencies these craft are operating on. It’s very easy for a civilian drone to be identified because the military already has anti drone technology that detects the radio signals drones give off to communicate to the controller of the drone user. Once you have acquired the frequency of the drone you can jam the signal to interrupt video output. We even have anti drone rifles that the military has purchased the technology for and are on standby for mass production if the need ever comes.

We are currently using this technology and there are a few drones that are undetectable to our anti drone capabilities. Nobody has been able find out the frequency these things are being used on to bring it down with a radar jam to disable them , jam the video screen, or etc .

Also interesting you say satellites are ancient technology but the intelligence community refuses to release numerous high resolution images of these UFOs because they consider such pictures a threat to national security if they were released to the public. The navy has pictures of tic-tac ufo literally less than 100m away from the carrier that will never see the light of day because how heavily redacted the encounter was. So I definitely would not discount the fact the US military and NASA has been casually documenting ufo phenomenon only to turn around and classify everything
