  • But remixed enough to still be different and received good reviews

    Good Example:
    Bumblebee - E.T
    Monsters inc - Matrix

    Bad example:
    Joker - Taxi driver

Controversial pick but I’d say Avatar - Pocahontas is a good example too

Escape from Alcatraz & The Shawshank Redemption

Don Siegel's film is a lot better.

Dressed To Kill is very similar to Psycho.

Gloria by Cassavetes & Leon The Professional. tbh, I prefer Besson's version though. Not to say Glorian isn't a good film.

It’s not tho. That example was stated in one the biggest books on screenwriting called “save the cat”

Google the comparisons. It’s the fact that you wouldn’t ever think to compare those two movies is the best example.

Agreed but it’s not about that. Is it essentially the same movie?

Even when you take away that they both involve robbing banks

    1. Main character does bad things
    2. Main character falls in love and wants to stop but can’t
    3. Main character eventually stops but karma catches up
