BRAVE1. Taylor did 846k with her first new big album, usual first week numbers for her (this was during the pandemic btw). Her following album only did so much less cause it was a sister album, so why would it do crazy numbers. Then she does 291k with the re-release of a 13 year old album. Therefore Taylor doesn’t add credence to what you’re saying
2. Cole is projected to do 280k-310k (without physical sales). KOD - 397k, 4YEO - 492k (363k pure) after FHD, which did 371k, then Born Sinner and Sideline Story which did 297k and 218k respectively. It looks like the 280k-310k range given the lack of a real single + the pandemic + lack of physicals + the climate makes for a first week that aligns with what Cole usually does first week
...so in what way does Taylor and Cole doing their usual numbers (impressively so I might add) lend to the notion that Kendrick’s first week numbers will be a disappointment?
Because both taylor and cole album would have done a lot more with physicals. Kendrick sold 353k in physicals with Damn. Now w new rules, that number will take a big hit

In a sense yes. But think it does matter to a degree. Someone might give a 12 song album 20 spins through the first week before they move on. If the same album was 24 songs and they still played through it just as many times before moving on, that's twice as many streams. Doesn't exactly play out like that but you can see how to a degree right

Kanye didn’t benefit from either TLOP or Yeezus merch bundles and still did y’all “big 3” numbers

Taylor is on a downturn plus she always used bundles and Ari never does more then that so nah these people are doing reasonable numbers for themselves.
