Ye just wasn’t on no street s*** that doesn’t make him conscious tho 😭
Kendrick tired to be an activist?
I can give you lines from every era of him saying he isn't an activist lol.
Literally every era of his mainstream career.
key word: tried. I'm saying certain times especially around the Ferguson days.
But yes, overall you're right. I been listening to Kendrick since he talked about Oprah's vagina at the BET cyphers lol.
Backpacker not conscious. That was for Mos and Talib. Kanye was kinda like their materialistic cousin
The words were interchangeable at the time
50 was on top and kanye was the yang to that Ying
Conscious doesn't mean dusty you can be fresh and conscious
My mention of materialism wasn’t to say that’s what made him not conscious. My point is that his proximity to people like Mos and Talib makes people confuse him for a conscious rapper
Damn... just woke up.
This man can put me to sleep like no other. Will try to finish the album later today.

Ehhhh. The backpacker was more concerned about their personal experience as opposed to society as a whole

Funny 😀

It's a conscious album man
I just feel like the marketing and hype doesn’t match up with what we got here, idk if I’m misconstruing something but for a rapping exercise project years in the making by someone who’s supposed to be one of the greatest, this just really underwhelmed me. He’s spitting for the most part but there’s only a few tracks that really made me feel like he was pushing himself on the highest level rap type stuff, he could’ve done way more
i mean the hype is simply because he garnered one of the strongest fanbases of his generation's rap class. he didn't do much marketing, a lil doc and a freestyle with two weeks notice lol
as far as the "taking years" part i think that's the part getting misconstrued
I guess Cole just isn't for me. Happy for the folks that enjoyed the album tho
Yeah I feel the same, his music does nothing for me.
HUNGER ON HILLSIDE.
BOI 1DA GOT THE BOUNCE BACK
the bounce never left lol
Every fanbase does not say their favorite rapper is humble and down to earth.
I’ve seen Cole stans take pics of him wearing the same shirt talking about “how many rappers you know wear the same clothes twice in a row”
And again I’m not even hating. I’m just explaining why he’s getting a lil backlash for that bar
this is such cap. a rapper does one thing like give money to homeless person or donate to some charity and their fans all say this. Ye, Hov, Meek, Drake and a bunch more have been guilty of this. there are no threads nitpicking their money bars tho
and If stan a Cole stan said that then you said it best. they're a stan because that sounds dumb asf tbh

I’m not talking about any outside hype I’m talking about the stuff he said. He said enough in the tweets and doc that made me expect something much different and better
Misconstrued how tho?
